Once we have conducted a mold cleaning, we follow up with a long term mold prevention treatment. For this we use a product called Boracare with Moldcare.
Unlike traditional fungus treatment solutions, Boracare with Moldcare penetrates deep into the wood, and remains there forever. It also has a moldicide component that fungus treatments don't.
When paired with appropriate moisture control, Boracare with Moldcare will help protect the wood under your home indefinitely.
Crawl Space Vapor Barriers
A major part of mold and moisture control is installing a ground coverage vapor barrier. This can be in the form of a pinned vapor barrier, or a fully sealed encapsulation.
We typically recommend a ground coverage vapor barrier because it provides the most flexibility in terms of termite prevention and warranty, has lower maintenance costs, is easier to patch and repair if plumbing or HVAC work is needed under your home, and does the job or protecting your crawl space.
Crawl Space Vent And Air Sealing
It is impossible to control crawl space moisture if hot humid air is allowed to enter the crawl space.
Sealing your crawl space vents, doors, cracks, gaps, and access holes is a critical component when it comes to crawl space moisture control and mold prevention.
In order to prevent mold and fungus, a space must be kept dry.
Crawl Space Dehumidifiers
The dehumidifier is one of the most critical components to keeping your crawl space dry and mold free. By removing moisture from the air, we can help prevent crawl space condensation, which leads to mold and fungus growth.
